our wes bug is actually quite the bug

this week wesley had his first well-baby check-up with our new pediatrician in idaho falls. and we found out that wesley had only managed to grow 1 1/2 inches and gain 3 ounces in the last four months! this has moved him from the 75th percentile to the 20th. our pediatrician didn't seem too concerned but i am freaking out.

he is healthy as can be and is smart as a whip. so why the growth stunt? any advice.

you have been so busy with your blog. I guess I better catch up now that I can't use the excuse "we are moving" Cutest pictures. Wes is cute no matter what size he is!!

Cute little Wes. I love the top left one of him eating something. So cute.

Olivia was like that too. The Dr freaked out, and ordered me to do blod tests, and bring her back a month later to see if she had gained weight.

She gained a pound in that month, and they were satisfied, but I never did the blood test. I didn't think it was necessary.

As long as he is eating, and is generally healthy, I wouldn't worry too much about it. He is probably just plateauing out.

He is adorable (as always!)

OH Becky...I feel your stress! This was totally Isaac! I obviously knew we weren't going to be raising NBA players but I couldn't believe it!! When Isaac was 2 he was like in the 5th percentile for height-and yes I was freaking out also. The doctors were never worried-but I totally was, especially since a good friend of our's little girl had just been diagnosed as growth deficient and they now had to give her shots of hormone for the next 10-12 years. I waited about 6 months and then couldn't stand it any more and wanted all the tests done. So they did and I was sooo relieved that everything came back normal. Turns out it was "constitutional growth delay"?? Which just basically means that he'll just continue to grow for a longer time period. Apparently it's genetic and Brett was saying that he was always really little growing up but then grew longer than his friends. Who knows, but I am definitely seeing him catch up to other kids his own age and I don't worry one bit! I think Austin is following right in his footsteps! So, after that long explaination...my advice would be try not to worry and just put extra butter on his toast and a little more chocolate in his milk (just kidding!). Good luck-he is too die for!

Hey, I think extra butter and chocolate is great advice! :) (Maybe I have constitutional growth of the belly!?) Anyway, maybe he'll be like Justin and grow 2 feet when he turns 20.

He is SO CUTE!! I can't believe how he gets even more adorable every time I see him!

Don't worry about the growth thing-- he's healthy, and that's what matters. He'll probably have one of those months where he grows a ton and catches right up. It looks like everyone else is saying the same thing.
