a vacation

last week we took first family vacation that didn't include staying/traveling with other family members or friends. kevin was able to get a few days off of work and we took of to vernal, ut.

what's in vernal? DINOSAUR fossils (and not a whole heck of lot more). actually, vernal is known for the most spectacular geologic and paleontologic resources on earth (that's what our brochure told us).

it was one of our most relaxing vacations yet. being able to come and go when we wanted. we had a very relaxing and enjoyable time.

madalyn was such a good sport. she practically slept for an entire day once we got home because she rarely was able to enjoy an undisturbed nap during out trip.

as you drive into vernal on thursday night it wasn't hard to notice what sells here...anything with dinosaurs on it. big dinosaurs were outside of just about every building. gas stations, hotels, stores, you name it. displayed EVERYWHERE. and the boys thought this was so exciting.

that night we had pizza in our hotel room, the boys took a quick swim, and then we were off to bed.

friday morning we went to the new utah field house of natural history state park museum (quite a name). it was a great museum!

the museum had a great discovery center for kids to do their own fossil and dig and do a lot of other hands-on activities.

What a fun vacation, love the new museum that sounds so cool. I went to Vernal when I was not much older than Owen!! Madalyn is looking cuter and cuter!
