auto tour of the tilted rocks

after the boys had their fill of the museum we grabbed some sandwiches and had a picnic at a park. the boys had fun playing on the toys and burning off some energy.

after lunch we went on a 22-mile round-trip auto tour at dinosaur national monument. they also have a lot of great hikes and bike trails inside the dinosaur national monument. maybe we will come back and try these when our kids are older.

i love all the rock formations you see in utah. they always make we wish that i was a geologist...or had a least paid better attention in geology. they are so fascinating!

they have an amazing mountain called split mountain, so-named because the green river slit it in half.

here is a picture of split mountain. isn't it fantastic?! they do white water tours down this river...maybe next time.

it's funny how all the rock formations actually begin to look like big dinosaurs. it's fun to let your imagination roam. some a little more obvious than others.

any guesses what this looks like?
